Ms. McCabe is currently teaching AP®, Pre-IB, Honors Biology, and Biology at Bartow High School and Bartow IB. She has a Bachelor's degree in Biology which she received from the University of Central Florida in Orlando. She loves to travel and has been to Denmark, England, France, Germany, Italy, Spain. Switzerland, Antigua and Puerto Rico. Ms. McCabe loves her work, but also enjoys hanging out with her cat, Annie.
Her teaching philosophy is that knowledge should be applied and shared: among teachers, among students, and between teachers and students. She believes that all life is a gift and that exploring this world of biology only begins in the classroom. Students in her classes will be given opportunities to discover the fascinating intricacies of various life forms through hands-on labs, inquiry-based learning, and argument-driven inquiry. What students should hope to gain from their year in Ms. McCabe's class is a new way of thinking. Asking questions and designing experiments are the optimal ways to learn and retain an answer. Sharing what we have learned will make us better thinkers and encourage healthy scientific discussion. To succeed in Ms. McCabe's class, students must have a positive attitude and be willing to put in effort, working to the best of their abilities. Her promise to her class is to give her best effort daily and to foster learning in various forms for content and life skills. |
